Artesania Torreón (in the style of Rinconada) Rare Recumbent Lion Scratching His Head - Partially-glazed and chock-full of charm
This figurine (as were all of the Artesania Torreón collection) was hand carved and painted in Mexico, likely in the 1970's or 80's. I've looked extensively, but have not identified which collection this belonged to, nor year of manufacture, as I've only found one other recently for sale. Overall, the figurine is in good vintage condition, with a few scratches and some dust. Please view all close-up pictures, ask for others and ask questions prior to purchase.
This wonderful piece, depicting a magnificent lion scratching his face in a very cat-like pose, has been left mostly unglazed, but the small sections of colorful glaze really bring him to life. He measures 4" long, 1.75" high, and is signed in two places on the bottom. He'd make a great addition to any Torreón or wild cat collection!
