The "Charm" project involves embroidering with yarn. The reason it's named "Charm" is because it started with BEBI herself altering her own belongings. Strangely, as she embroidered with yarn, each stitch felt like imbuing the item with a soul, like sewing on a charm. Perhaps because the stitches are larger with yarn, making the feelings stronger, or maybe because the yarn she used at the time held sentimental value, having been passed down from her grandmother. In old Japan, there was something called "Semamori," a protective charm and amulet where mothers would sew decorative stitches on the back of their children's kimonos, wishing for their healthy growth. Dreamcatchers also came to mind, and I found it interesting that the stitches felt like a "net" to me. How about a charming, wearable charm for you?

This is a one-of-a-kind item using a used body, embroidered with "two stars" in yarn of matching colors. The long yarn extending from the two stars evokes the image of a shooting star, or a free-flowing ponytail. You can braid it or cut it to your desired length. The name tags are handwritten individually. All processing steps are done in BEBI's studio.

The body uses a used 100% wool knit cardigan selected by BEBI. It has a substantial feel and a compact size, but the raglan sleeves provide a comfortable amount of room around the shoulders. All the front buttons have been replaced; from the stock of buttons, each with a different expression, were selected and sewn on with orange thread. Although it is a used item, it has been carefully cared for after checking its condition.
