A wonderful find - this "Phot Duang", otherwise known as bullet money, is a specimen of historical coinage used in Siam (now Thailand) Made by bending a silver ingot into a roundish shape and marked to represent weight and dynasty. Often mounted and worn as amulets and then used in circulation. Weighs 7g and is 1/2 Baht. From the Rattanakosin Period. Marked with the Chakra Wheel of the Buddhist Faith and a second mark for the ruler King Mongkut (King Rama IV) 1851-1868, shows the Siamese Crown, the second mark in the reign of King Rama IV. Also features the arrowhead marks at the join. Similar item can be found in The British Museum Money and Medals archives. Excellent condition and an amazing piece of historical interest.
