A wonderful find - this "Phot Duang", otherwise known as bullet money, is a specimen of historical coinage used in Siam (now Thailand) Made by bending a silver ingot into a roundish shape and marked to represent weight and dynasty. Often mounted and worn as amulets and then used in circulation. Weighs 7g and is 1/2 Baht. From the Rattanakosin Period. Marked with the Chakra Wheel of the Buddhist Faith and a second mark for the ruler King Mongkut (King Rama IV) 1851-1868, shows the Siamese Crown, the second mark in the reign of King Rama IV.
