The purpose of this practical guide is to provide readers with an overview of California’s extensive political and election laws. While this book serves as an introduction to these two areas of state law, there is sufficient material to give the reader a foundation for learning about the basics of California’s laws governing elections and regulating office holders in their official dealings.In the first half of this book, the chapters deal with the state's political laws, which are found in the California Government Code, primarily in the sections contained in the Political Reform Act of 1974.
